Boats and fishing have been a fixture of my life. Learning to sail at the age of 11 racing lasers and 420’s moving up to bigger boats and competing in International regattas from Sardinia to Cape Town as professional race crew, culminating in winning the Rolex World Cup. I have several transatlantic crossing under my belt on Superyachts (both sail & power) and have logged over 40,000 miles at sea.
My father taught me to fish and my skills were honed spending summer holidays on my Uncles charter boat out of Portrush in Northern Ireland. I have had the benefit of 40 years charter skipper knowledge handed down and my uncle continues to fish with me now and is always happy to share his knowledge. I have fished out of most ports from Folkstone to Weymouth over the last 30 years and have first hand experience of some excellent and some not so excellent skippers, I have learnt something from them all.
Prior to becoming a full time, professional Charter Skipper I enjoyed a 30 year career in The Fire & Rescue Service finishing my career as a senior officer having headed up The largest Line, Water & Urban Search & Rescue Teams in Europe as well as undertaking Operational Command & Control of Major incidents on a daily/nightly basis for over 15 years; A career that has equipped me very well for the challenge of ensuring our anglers safety in what can be a challenging and sometimes hostile environment.
